![]() So as this installation prompt was on the desktop (Without any other programs running) I opened the steam application. This couldn't be right, because I had installed the game a year ago, and never uninstalled it. I inserted the disc, and all of a sudden the "Installation prompt window" appeared. Today (As the weather fell to 30*) I took out Civilization V to play. I stopped playing the game once Spring time came around, I immediately put the game in its box and stored it safely. I got the game to work, and It was great. Once installed I completed the Steam application which was frustrating, because never before had I ever had to play ANY Sid Meier's Game (From Railroad Tycoon, Civ 1-4) based on the core of an independent Steam online application. It took a significant amount of time to install. Top stars for the game, zero stars for STEAM.I bought Sid Meiers's Civilization V in October 2010 for my brand new Macbook pro. Civilization 5 mac steam update#The update does not mention any fix for the first problem. Civilization 5 mac steam download#Now new behaviour from STEAM, it endlessly downloads an update and restarts only to download the same update again, etc. I also find that STEAM is very slow to load and login. There does not seem to be any resume capability within STEAM so if your connection is not perfect for a long enough time period to get this downloaded it will start again at the beginning every time. When I bought the game I had to try to download it many times before finally succeeding. ![]() Steam now tries to download the whole game again, 4494 MB which, of course, fails every time due to connection timeout. Update failed twice due to connection timeout. (I've read that multilayer is simultaneous moves with each unit action having immediate effect, so it's almost like real time, a very different game.) But now that I am ready to try multilayer I find that the game requires an update. Of course it's always more enjoyable to play against a human opponent. Civilization V is a great game and plays very well in single player. There really should be two different reviews and ratings for this.
